Adjusting scores before posting them:
All scores being posted need
to be adjusted using what is called ESC (Equitable Stroke Control).
This means that if your course handicap falls within a certain
range, you are capped at to the maximum number of strokes that you
can take on any given hole. This chart below comes directly
from the USGA. Please adjust all scores you post, no matter
where you play.

Posting Scores:
It is imperative that members post all of their scores in a timely
manner (not to exceed 7 calendar days). Anyone who fails to do
so, will not be eligible for net prizes at the next event and will
receive a letter warning them that if this happens a second time,
they will declared not eligible for net prizes for the rest of the
season. Many courses opt to put the tees and pins in more user
friendly places to speed up the pace of play. As such, the
board approved golfers posting their scores as a regular "Away"
event, and not as a tournament score. Please post using the
correct course rating and slope for the tees we play.
- TEE TIMES - for
each event, we normally run both the 1st Tee and the 10th Tee and do
both AM and PM starting times. The AM times usually run from @
7:00 AM - 9:00 AM with the later tee times beginning @ 11:30 AM -
until @ 1:30 PM. Please keep this in mind when requesting tee
times.
- Signing up
on line:
Beginning in 2009 the window for signing up for an event will open
at 6:00 AM on the Wednesdays @ 2 weeks prior to
each event (except for the last two events which will be available
on line on a Tuesday due to events being held on a Wednesday). Those signing up on line will be given the first
choice of tee times.
- Signing up
via mail: for
2009 events will be Tuesdays (except for The Oaks and Portsmouth,
which have been moved to a Monday). If your request arrives before
Wednesday, your sign-up will be placed at the end of the list (not
returned). Those who mail in their forms will be assigned tee
times as space allows.
- Cancellation fees: The association pays BlueGolf a
"transaction fee" for every person who registers and/or cancels.
We also pay a finance
charge for accepting credit cards whether processing
tournament registration fees or refunds. Cancellations do come at a cost to
the association and it is only fair that anyone who signs up for an
event and then cancels, share in
that cost. Anyone cancelling will be assessed a $5 fee.
If cancelling with less than a 3 day notice you may be assessed a
$10 fee. If anyone is a "no show" and we are required to pay the
course, there will be no refund.
The policy is subject to appeal by anyone with extenuating circumstance. Such an appeal
must be sent in
writing (or email) to
Chuck Mitchell.
- Those on
the waiting list
become eligible for play
on the Friday preceding an event if there are still openings.

Breaking Ties:
The
BlueGolf
program is set up to use the USGA Rules - Appendix I #11 (c)
How to Decide Ties (Page 125):
An acceptable method of matching the cards is to determine the
winner on the basis of the best score for the last nine holes.
If the tying players have the same score for the last nine,
determine the winner on the basis of the last six holes, last
three holes and finally the 18th hole. If this method is used in
a competition with a multiple tee start, it is recommended that
the “last nine holes, last six holes, etc.” is considered to be
holes 10-18, 13-18, etc.
